🗓 July 6th: 🕘 19:00-21:00
🗓 July 7th: 🕘 10:00-22:00
In Armenian traditional calendar, Vardavar is celebrated 14 weeks after Easter. In pre-Christian Armenia, it was associated with the goddess of love and beauty, Astghik. After adoption of Christianity, church replaced it with the Feast of the Transfiguration. One of the unique features is that people drench each other with water from early morning. In past, people also gave each other roses, and young lovers exchanged apples and released doves․․․
Rose water is also an integral part of Vardavar festival. As the name suggests, the word 'Vardavar' comes from 'vard' (rose) and 'var' (to wash). To keep the essence of this name, we will fill the large pool in Friendship Park with rose petals and splash rose water on each other the next day. If you want to step back in time and experience these traditions , join us at Friendship Park on July 6th and 7th.
